3 killed, 9 wounded in shootings since Monday afternoon

Three men were killed and nine others wounded in gun violence across the city since Monday afternoon, including two men who were found shot to death in West Pullman early Tuesday.

The men, ages 35 and 38, were both found unresponsive with gunshot wounds to the head about 3:40 a.m. in the 100 block of East 120th Street, police said, citing preliminary findings. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office had been notified of the double-slaying on the Far South Side, but had yet to identify the men early Tuesday, according to an official.

The other recent murder occurred Monday afternoon in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood. About 4:20 p.m., police found Jonathan Murray’s lifeless body in the 6600 block of South Claremont Avenue, less than a block from his home, authorities said.

The 25-year-old, who lived in the 6600 block of South Oakley Avenue, had been shot multiple times, authorities said. Murray was pronounced dead at the scene.

Few details were released because police had difficulty gathering information from witnesses.
The most recent non-fatal shooting occurred about 1 a.m. Tuesday on the South Side, police said. Police said a 34-year-old man was shot in the abdomen in the 5100 block of South Prairie Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in “stable” condition, police said.
About an hour earlier in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood a woman was shot less than a block from where Murray was killed.

The 36-year-old woman was near West 61st and South Rockwell streets when she was shot twice in the chest and once in the arm about 11:45 p.m., police said. She was taken to Advocate Christ Hospital in unknown condition. Further details were not available.

Minutes earlier, a man was shot in the West Englewood neighborhood by a shooter who rode past him on a bike, police said.

The 38-year-old man was shot in the abdomen in the 5800 block of South Wolcott Avenue about 11:40 p.m., police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in “stable” condition.

Just west of the Loop, a man was shot near University Village about 11:22 p.m., police said. Bullets hit the man in his torso and thigh in the 1400 block of South Emerald Avenue, police said. The man was in “stable” condition at Stroger Hospital.

In the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, a man and a woman were both injured when a shooter pointed a gun toward their feet and opened fire just before 8 p.m., police said.

At the time, the 26-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man were standing amongst a group of people in the 4800 block of West Adams Street. Police said the two did not appear to be the shooter’s intended targets.
The two found their own way to Loretto Hospital for treatment.

In the Gage Park neighborhood on the South Side, an 18-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 5000 block of South Oakley Avenue about 5:51 p.m., police said.

He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in “stable” condition, police said.

On the Far South Side in the West Pullman neighborhood, a 21-year-old man was shot in the groin in the 11600 block of South Loomis Street, police said.

About 1:40 p.m., a 14-year-old boy with known gang ties was wounded during a drive-by shooting in the South Side’s Grand Boulevard neighborhood.

The teen was in the 4700 block of South Indiana Avenue when he was shot in the upper left leg about 1:40 p.m., police said.

He was taken to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in “stable” condition, authorities said
