A Thursday autopsy confirmed that a woman fatally shot early Wednesday in the Uptown neighborhood was the 100th homicide of 2015.

Last year, the Cook County medical examiner's office did not report its 100th homicide until April 27.

Chicago Police, which follows federal guidelines that can exclude police-involved killings and slayings detectives rule accidental or self-defense, had already reported a 30 percent increase in killings in the first three months of this year compared to the same time last year.

The 24-year-old woman fatally shot Wednesday in the 4500 block of North Broadway is the 15th homicide so far in April, according to medical examiner's office data, which reported 13 homicides through April 15, 2014.

The Austin community has had the most homicides this year with seven, according to medical examiner's office data. West Englewood has had six killings and Roseland five.
