Devonte Dotson has been charged with the fatal shooting of Dennis Hoosier of Midlothian during a fight inside an apartment complex early Friday near O’Hare International Airport on the Northwest Side.

Dotson, 21, faces one count of first-degree murder in connection with the 12:45 a.m. shooting in the 8500 block of West Bryn Mawr, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

Dotson was identified as the person who shot 23-year-old Dennis Hoosier multiple times during a fight inside the apartment complex, authorities said.

Hoosier, who lived in the 14700 block of Kilpatrick Avenue in Midlothian, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Dotson, who lives on the same block of the shooting, was ordered held on a $1 million bond Saturday, according to the Cook County sheriff's office. He will next appear in court Monday.

The apartment complex is one of many that are surrounded by hotels, corporate offices and restaurants.

An officer at the scene said the area is usually very quiet.

“We don’t get called up here often,” he said. “Nothing happens here.”
