Honorio Hernandez, who was shot early Friday near his home in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood, died of his wounds Sunday.
Hernandez, 23, was on the sidewalk in the 4300 block of South Wood about 4:50 a.m. when a vehicle drove up and someone inside shot him multiple times in the chest and neck, police said.
He was unresponsive at the scene, and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the same block as the shooting.
Police are investigating whether the shooting was gang-related.
