Elton Buie died Monday, two days after he and two teenagers were shot in the University Village neighborhood on the Near West Side.

Buie, 21, of the 1400 block of West Morgan, was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital at 1:42 p.m. Monday, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Police said he was shot in the head.

Buie and two 17-year-old boys were standing outside about 2:45 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of West 14th Street when a light-colored car drove up, police said. Two males exited the vehicle and fired shots before jumping back in the car and speeding away.

All three gunshot victims were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. One teenager was shot in the arm and leg, and the other was shot in the leg. Their conditions had stabilized.

Police are investigating whether the shootings may have been gang-related.
