A 21-year-old man shot to death Sunday afternoon in West Englewood on the South Side has been identified as Christopher Doyle.
Doyle was discovered by police lying in the street in the 5700 block of South Paulina at 1:08 p.m. with gunshot wounds, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Doyle, who lived in the 5700 block of South Hermitage, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he died at 1:52 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the chest and his death was ruled a homicide.
Doyle worked as a cook at O'Hare International Airport and had served in the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Schurz High School and attended Devry University Advantage Academy.
Doyle's family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for a memorial. As of Wednesday, it had raised over $1,800 of a goal of $2,500.
