Patrick Holmes, 26, faces first-degree murder charges for the attack that happened about 8:20 p.m. Aug. 24 in the 1200 block of North Keeler, according to Chicago Police.

Polk, 24 was driving a red van with a 21-year-old man in the passenger seat when someone opened fire from a sidewalk, authorities said at the time.

Polk was shot in the chest and arm, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:06 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 2800 block of West Flournoy.

The younger man was shot in the left hand and suffered a graze wound to his left arm, police said.

Holmes, of the 1400 block of South Canal, was arrested Thursday, police said.

A judge on Saturday ordered him held without bond, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office. He is due back in court Monday.
