A 17-year-old boy who was fatally shot while riding in a vehicle in the East Garfield Park neighborhood early Saturday has been identified as Eric Garth.
He was a passenger in the vehicle, which was in the 3900 block of West Ferdinand about 4:10 a.m. when someone walked up and shot him in the neck and face, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Garth, of the 700 block of North Harding, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 4:44 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.
