The men, ages 31 and 33, were sitting in a car parked in the 5400 block of South Laflin about 5:30 a.m. when shots were fired, hitting the younger man in the chest and grazing the older man’s head, according to police

They were taken to Stroger Hospital, where the 31-year-old later died, police said. The other man was treated and released.

The victim's name had not been released as of late Monday afternoon pending notification of family.

A 37-year-old man was fatally shot after he and another man broke into a Little Village home late Wednesday, police said.

Ronald Williamson, 35, was armed with a handgun when he and Lawrence Pitts forced their way into a home in the 2200 block of South Avers about 10 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office.

They got into a struggle with a 43-year-old man who lives in the home, and shots were fired, hitting Pitts in the face and abdomen, authorities said.

Pitts was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at Friday afternoon. It wasn’t clear if he was shot with Williamson’s gun or if another weapon was involved.

The 43-year-old resident suffered minor injuries and was treated and released from Saint Anthony Hospital, police said.

Williamson was charged with home invasion, attempted robbery and murder while committing another forcible felony, police said.
