A 16-year-old boy has been charged with killing South Side teenagers Donta Parker and Sakinah Reed, and wounding a third teen in a Grand Crossing neighborhood drive-by shooting last week.

Anthony Murphy faces two counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery with a firearm for the attack that happened about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 5, the Cook County state's attorney's office and Chicago Police announced.

The three victims were walking in the 7600 block of South Dorchester when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside started shooting, police said at the time.

Parker, 16, was shot in the head and Reed, 17, was shot twice in the chest, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Both were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where they later died.

Another 16-year-old boy, shot in the hand and ankle, was taken to St. Bernard Hospital, and later released, police said.

Parker lived in the 7800 block of South Cregier, according to the medical examiner’s office. Reed was from the 9000 block of South Burley.

The suspect was scheduled for a bond hearing Wednesday.
