Two men were killed and at least 10 other people were wounded in gun violence across the city, beginning Tuesday afternoon.

The outbreak of shootings came after a two-week period of relative calm and, once again, coincided with an improvement in the weather, as temperatures climbed into the 80s.

One fatal shooting occurred in the Englewood neighborhood about 10:22 p.m., authorities said.

Police released few details, but a man, believed to be in his 20s, was apparently found shot to death in a vehicle in the 7700 block of South Damen Avenue, according to authorities. The man’s name has not been released pending notification of family.

Later, about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday, a 22-year-old man was shot to death and a 36-year-old man was injured while the two were riding in a car in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, police said.

As the two men rode in the 5300 block of South May Street, a gunman emerged from a gangway and opened fire on the car, police said. The two were both taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where the 22-year-old died after from multiple gunshot wounds to the head and upper body, police said. The 36-year-old was being treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Just after 2:30 a.m. an 18-year-old man refused medical attention after he was shot in the foot in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Police said the man was walking by a gas station in the 8700 block of South Ashland Ave. when two gunmen in a vehicle got out and started shooting, striking the 18-year-old in the leg and foot.

About 2:10 a.m. a 27-year-old woman was shot standing outside a liquor store in the 3900 block of West Arthington in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. She was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in good condition.

Earlier in the Woodlawn neighborhood, a 35-year-old man was shot in the arm about 1:30 a.m. in the 6600 block of South Evans Avenue, police said. Police said they did not known what condition the man was in.

About 10 p.m., a man in his 20s was shot at least twice in his left hip in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

About 8 p.m., a 30-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man were injured in a gang-related shooting in the Logan Square neighborhood, authorities said. They were in a backyard in the 2100 block of North Campbell when a shooter fired from the alley, then took off in a red minivan, police said. The woman was shot in the left thigh and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, according to police and fire officials. The man was shot in the left ankle and taken to Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in fair-to-serious condition.

About 5 p.m. Tuesday, a 19-year-old man was shot in the arm near 90th and Escanaba in the South Chicago, police said.

About 4 p.m., a 19-year-old man was shot in the back and a 20-year-old man was shot in the back of the head near 77th and Burnham in the South Shore neighborhood, police said. They were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious-to-critical condition, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joe Roccasalva said. Police said their conditions had stabilized.

No one was in custody in connection with any of the shootings.

In addition to the shootings, late Tuesday a Chicago Police officer shot a 22-year-old man who pointed a gun at officers during a foot chase on the Southeast Side, authorities said. The man was shot in the ankle just before midnight in the 1600 block of East 83rd Street, Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, he said. His injury was not life-threatening.
