23-year-old Michael Brown of Matteson fatally shot in Park Manor

Michael A. Brown of south suburban Matteson died after being shot Saturday evening in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

Just after 6 p.m., someone in the 7300 block of South Champlain heard gunfire and came out to find Brown with a gunshot wound to the chest inside a vehicle, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The 23-year-old Brown had been talking to another male, who pulled out a gun and shot him, police said.

Brown was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 6:58 p.m., according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He lived in the 3200 block of Holden Circle in Matteson.
