NEED ID: A man was killed and a woman critically wounded in a shooting Thursday morning on the Eisenhower Expressway in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said. The two victims, whose ages were not immediately known, were shot about 5:30 a.m. on westbound I-290 near Laramie Avenue, according to Illinois State Police.
They were found a few minutes before 6 a.m. at Flournoy and Lockwood, and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. The man was pronounced dead, and the woman was in critical condition. Police closed down all westbound I-290 lanes from Independence Avenue until at least 9 a.m. to search for shell casings.

A man died Tuesday evening, three days after he was shot in the Englewood neighborhood. Alvonta Pinex, 27, got into an argument with another man at 2:24 a.m. Saturday in the 7200 block of South Aberdeen, when the suspect pulled a gun and fired shots, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Pinex, of south suburban Riverdale, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he died at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday. As of Wednesday morning, no one was in custody in connection with the shooting.

A man was found shot to death in the kitchen of an Ashburn neighborhood home Tuesday afternoon. Emergency crews were called at 4:29 p.m. to the home in the 3800 block of West 84th Place, where they found 32-year-old Arian J. Smith dead on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Smith, who lived on the same block, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man was shot to death early Tuesday in the Rogers Park neighborhood. Jevon O'Brien, 26, was shot in the head at 4:05 a.m. in the 1500 block of West Jonquil Terrace, according to police and the medical examiner's office. O'Brien was taken by friends to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he was pronounced dead at 5:50 a.m. Additional information on the shooting was not immediately available as witnesses were not cooperating with investigators.

A man was fatally shot Monday night in the Gage Park neighborhood. Jose Ernesto Martinez, 30, was shot in the upper chest and armpit about 6:40 p.m. in the 5100 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Martinez was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A man was killed in a West Pullman neighborhood shooting Monday afternoon. About 4:30 p.m., 18-year-old Reginald Fleming Jr. was walking through a vacant lot in the 12000 block of South Prairie when a dark car pulled up nearby and someone inside shot him in the head, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. Fleming, who lived in the 2100 block of 175th Street in Lansing, was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 7:51 p.m.
