A 16-year-old boy who died hours after being shot Friday evening inside a Lawndale neighborhood apartment building on the West Side has been identified as Christopher S. Brandon-Lucket.

About 6:15 p.m., the teen was with two other people in the basement of the building in the 1500 block of South Kedzie. That's when he was shot once in the face, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Brandon-Lucket was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died at 2:19 a.m. Saturday, authorities said. He lived in the 1800 block of South Fairfield.

Police said no one was in custody for the shooting as of early Tuesday.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help his family with funeral expenses.

The page said of the boy: "Handsome... bright... talented... best friend... just a few words used to describe a young man so undeniably loved by many. Chris had a future as bright as his smile ahead of him ..."
