A man who was fatally shot Sunday night in the East Side neighborhood on the Far South Side has been identified as Alfonso Juan Calderon Jr.
The 24-year-old Calderon was standing in a vacant lot about 8:15 p.m. in the 10700 block of South Green Bay. He was approached by two male suspects, who fired shots at him and then ran off, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Calderon suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, arm and hand; and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 9:07 p.m., authorities said.
He lived in the Hegewisch neighborhood on the Far South Side.
Area South detectives were investigating.
