A man who was fatally shot Tuesday morning in the North Side Rogers Park neighborhood has been identified as 18-year-old Darlis Nkolomoni.
Witnesses said Nkolomoni was being chased by another male in the 1400 block of West Jonquil Terrace about 7 a.m. when shots rang out, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Nkolomoni, who lived in the same neighborhood, was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.
At 8:07 a.m., Evanston police were checking Calvary Cemetery for a man with a gun, a report that originated in Chicago, according to the department’s Twitter account. The cemetery, about half a mile from the shooting scene, reopened about an hour later after the search was completed.
No one was in custody as of Thursday morning.
