Dontae Thomas was shot to death early Sunday in on the block where he lived in the Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.
At 5:07 a.m., the 24-year-old Thomas was standing in the 1400 block of South Avers when someone in a white vehicle fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Thomas was hit in the abdomen, and was taken to Stroger Hospital. He died there about two hours later at 7:05 a.m., the medical examiner’s office said.
He lived on the same block where he was killed.
