Police are asking for help to identify the body of woman or teen girl found strangled and badly burned in a Northwest Side Avondale neighborhood Dumpster Sunday night.

Firefighters found the charred body after putting out a Dumpster blaze in an alley in the 3100 block of North Kimball Avenue about 11:05 p.m.

An autopsy Monday found the person was strangled, and ruled the death a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Authorities think she is a teen girl or woman between 17 and 30 years old, police News Affairs said in a release tonight.

Her eye color cannot be determined, but she has an olive complexion and may be either white or Hispanic, the release said.

She was badly burned over most of her body, but authorities have been able to tell that she has straight, medium-length brown hair, possibly with red highlights, the release said.

She had a hoop earring in her right ear and a piercing in her tongue. She was wearing a blue shirt and a pink bra, police said.

Anyone who can help to identify her is asked to contact detectives at (312) 744-8261.
