A stray bullet left Aaron Gordon dead Tuesday evening in the Riverdale neighborhood on the Far South Side, authorities said.
Witnesses told investigators the 21-year-old Gordon was sitting in a parked vehicle about 5:18 p.m. in the 200 block of East 132nd St. on Independence Day, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Two other vehicles were in the area and someone fired shots from a light-colored sedan into the other vehicle, police said.
Gordon was struck in the face by an errant bullet, and was not the intended target, police said.
He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 6:39 p.m., authorities said.
He lived in south suburban County Club Hills.
