Marcelle P. Rey was killed early Tuesday when someone got out of a car and shot him in the chest in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side.
At 1:26 a.m., a male suspect got out of a red Chevrolet Camaro in the 8400 block of South Maryland, where the 56-year-old Rey was walking, and opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Rey, who lived in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood, was struck in the chest, authorities said.
He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:24 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
