A South Side man has been charged with murder for allegedly fatally shooting Demarco Lyons in December in Englewood.
Nevada Hicks, 18, of the 5500 block of South Paulina Street, was charged with one count of first-degree murder, police said. Hicks is expected to appear for a bond hearing later Thursday.
Hicks is accused of gunning down Lyons, 22, as he walked in the 300 block of West 60th Place about 2:45 p.m. Dec. 8, authorities said.
The gunman approached, shot Lyons in the chest and fled the scene in a gray four-door vehicle, police said.
Lyons, of the 6000 block of South Princeton Avenue, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. An autopsy determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said Lyons was a parolee with gang affiliations.
