Mario Gaines was shot to death Sunday morning in the West Side Austin neighborhood.
The 18-year-old Gaines was shot multiples time when another male walked up and fired at him about 10:01 a.m. in the 200 block of North Lockwood, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Gaines was taken to Loretto Hospital, where he died at 10:14 a.m., authorities said. He lived about three blocks from where he was shot.
Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
