A man extradited from New Jersey to face charges in a grisly Southwest Side murder pleaded not guilty Tuesday.

Milton Miranda, 22, faces one count of first-degree murder for the May 2013 killing and dismemberment of Jose Reyes, according to Chicago Police.

Miranda, his girlfriend Daisy Gutierrez and her father Salvador Gutierrez were also charged in the murder, authorities said. Reyes was the brother Daisy Gutierrez' former boyfriend.

Police believe a love triangle was at the center of the violence at the home in the 8300 block of South Scottsdale, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Daisy Gutierrez told her family to leave their Southwest Side home on May 21, 2013, according to prosecutors. She then invited Reyes to come over.

Gutierrez lured Reyes to her room and began to undress -- all while Miranda lay in wait.

Reyes was attacked with a pipe and knife and his dismembered body was buried in the backyard, prosecutors claim. His remains were found in October 2013. Salvador Gutierrez / Photo from Cook County Sheriff's office

Miranda pleaded not guilty Tuesday before judge William Hooks, Cook County State’s Attorney’s office spokesman Stephen Campbell said. He will next appear in court March 10.

Daisy and Salvador Gutierrez will next appear in court March 14, according to the state’s attorney’s office.
