A veteran Chicago Cubs parking attendant was shot to death inside his Chatham neighborhood home on Sunday morning.
Jabari Davis, 29, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest at his home in the 900 block of East 81st Street about 7:15 a.m., authorities said.
He was declared dead at the scene.
ABC 7 Chicago is reporting Davis worked as a parking attendant for the Chicago Cubs. His Facebook page indicated he attended DuSable High School.
"We are saddened to hear about the death of Jabari Davis. Davis was a seasoned veteran of our parking operation and received numerous awards for his outstanding work over the years," according to a statement from the Chicago Cubs. "Davis took great pride in his work and was always eager to help Cubs fans, as well as his fellow colleagues. He will certainly be missed by many. We extend our deepest sympathy to the Davis family during this difficult time."
Nobody has been charged for the killing.
Area South detectives are investigating.
